REQUEST FOR 2013-2014 ARTISTIC PROJECT PROPOSALS
[Deadline Extended to February 10]

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
California Presenters, a statewide organization committed to advancing professional touring and presenting of the performing arts in California, seeks proposals for exceptional new performing arts projects for touring in the 2013-2014 season. Representatives of the top ten ranked projects will be invited to share their artistic vision and projects to California Presenters membership as part of the "Artist Spotlight" session on May 31, 2012, at the Artist Information Exchange (AIE) conference in Los Angeles, California. The chance to get a distinguished group of presenters in one place with their undivided attention does not present itself very often. Several successful tours have been generated through this process.

PROGRAM GOALS
The goals of the California Presenters Artist Spotlight Program are to
  • Stimulate the creation, production and touring of new work in California and the western United States in the performing arts;
  • Foster collaboration between presenters in California and the western United States through block booking;
  • Increase access to high quality artists in culturally, economically or geographically underserved communities; and
  • Increase community engagement between artists and communities.

PROGRAM HISTORY

California Presenters’ Artist Spotlight was launched in 2006 as the New Works Tour Support Program. The Artist Spotlight has evolved as a unique opportunity for artists to engage directly with California Presenter members in a focused, intimate environment that allows for robust conversation and exchange. The Artis Spotlight Session is a pitch process that has independently generated several successful tours as well as developed substantive relationships between artists and presenters.
